The Price of Progress
Remants of the theocracy still remain, but in appearance only. For the most part the Kargads are isolationists and want little to do with the politics of the inner isles. They are content to keep the peace, but hold little respect for the culture of the west.
The priestesses of Atuan still practice and upkeep the temples and tombs, but have no real faith in their gods. They just go through the motions because that’s what has been done for hundreds of years, and that’s what is expected of them.
